About Us
We are group of families in Abilene, Texas, who desire the establishment of a PCA Church. The PCA’s Southwest Church Planting Network has been working with us to provide financial and administrative support for this plant. A core group of three semi-retired families, who were all long-time members of a local PCUSA church in the past, recognizing a longing in ourselves and others in our community for a church that has the basic characteristics we see in PCA churches.
Abilene is a wonderful mid-sized town with a population of 130,000. It's also the Storybook Capital of Texas and has a restored and renovated walkable downtown with shops, museums, and a city zoo. Abilene is centrally located just 2 1/2 hours west of Dallas/Ft. Worth. The city is home to three universities, as well as Dyess Air Force Base which is occupied by five thousand airmen specializing in flight training for the B-1 Bomber. Additionally, the Federal Government has recently announced a plan to spend billions of dollars on AI infrastructure located near Abilene.
Our Goals
We desire to plant a PCA Church in Abilene in order:
To establish biblical authority over all teaching and preaching, and our lives.
To commune in a multi-generational and diverse community of believers, and to be an inviting community to nonbelievers who come seeking answers to the great questions of life.
To establish a structure of the body allowing for transparency and accountability in leadership and the body.
To strive for weekly worship that honors all generations, which is inviting in its form to those young and old; and preserves the historical liturgy of the church.
Recognizing that humans are forgetful and constantly bombarded by the culture around them, it is important each week to gather with brothers and sisters to “act out the gospel”.
Provisions for deep study of the Word.
